The U.K has dropped out of the top 20 most gender equal countries in the world after women's incomes fell by £2,700 over the last year.This has to change!
The TUC(trade union congress) analysis shows just 1/15 women working full time earns £50,000 each year compared to 1/7 men.
The gender pay gap is on the rise.According to ONS(office of national statistics)shows that women earn 10% less than their male counter parts in full time work.
Women working full time as senior education professionals earn over £13,000 a year less,on average, than their male peers despite dominating the profession.
Women are paying a price on having children in the workplace.There has been a ongoing downward trend since the gender pay act of 1970.In the past year the gender pay gap has widened rather than shortened.The government is aware of the problem at hand however women continue to be descriminated against daily. This serious issue of unequal pay has become acceptable and is seen as a minor issue rather than a real major issue.
In this day and age in society, males should take responsibility by taking more time out of work by being incentivised with better paid leave to play more of a role in raising children.This means that it wouldn't be down to women/new mothers to face such a high penalty when returning back to work.
