Keep Universal Infant Free School Meals
Theresa May has pledged to scrap Universal Free School Meals (UIFSM) in Infant Schools and millions of children in primary schools will lose out on a healthy meal at lunchtime if she does. While breakfast clubs would be a good addition, they should be in addition not instead of UIFSM. The government said when UIFSM were introduced in 2015 that this was both to increase attainment and save families an average of £437 a year. Universal Infant Free School Meals can improve the health of children and are also an important measure against childhood obesity. Hungry children don't learn and we urge Theresa May to reconsider.
