“There’s one issue that will define the contours of this century more dramatically than any other, and that is the urgent and growing threat of a changing climate.” - Barack Obama
I call upon our Prime Minister, Theresa May, to join other leading European countries in formally condemning Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from The Paris Accord.
A Downing Street spokesperson said -
"The Prime Minister expressed her disappointment with the decision and stressed that the UK remained committed to the Paris Agreement, as she set out recently at the G7."
However such a decision by Trump calls for more than just mere "disappointment".
World leaders united for the first time in history, in Paris, to legally ratify action against pollution through the United Nations Framework Convention.
Every country, bar Syria (who are in the midst of a civil war) and Nicaragua (who wanted the agreement to go even further), had backed this accord.
America is the second largest polluter in the world; after China. American involvement was and still is vital to the success of the agreement.
"Disappointment" is poor leadership, from Theresa May, in response to such a devastating decision.
She must go further and publicly condemn his choice.
By signing this petition, we urge PM Theresa May to join Italy, France and Germany in condemning President Trump's devastating decision to withdraw from the Paris Accord.
