I want the law to recognise the long term affects on children who witness domestic abuse
This petition had 306 supporters
After what my daughter and I have been through (and are still going through), I strongly feel that there should be some sort of change in the law surrounding children who witness domestic abuse. Domestic abuse wether the victim is man, woman or child, has a profound and long lasting affect on not just the victim(s), but also on people around them who witness the abuse. It is unrecognised by the courts and cafcass when it comes to child contact, or other legal matters. I think that this is wrong, just because that relationship has ended, it doesn't mean that the perpetrator has stopped being a narcissist or manipulator. These are behavioural and personality traits, and should be considered and taken into account, especially when decisions are being made on a child's behalf.
I know that I may not be able to make a difference, but I want to at least try so please share this petition with your family and friends and ask them to sign too.
I want people to realise that Domestic abuse isn't just a matter for the police and criminal courts, it affects all aspects of victims and witnesses lives, and can have a long lasting affect and THIS NEEDS TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED.
