Grant 16 and 17 year olds the right to vote in the 2017 General Election
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
On Tuesday 18th April Theresa May announced a snap General Election- in the UK it's the mandatory assumption that under 18s are unable to vote. For many young people up and down the country, the supposed 2020 election would have been their first opportunity.
Pulling this Election forward 3 years however has diminished this right. Hundreds of enthusiastic and politically engaged young people are being turned away from the polling station despite only wanting to aid the democratic crisis that is sweeping our country.
How are we to take back control without passing on such control to those who want to help shape the future?
We want Parliament to grant the same rights to 16 and 17 year olds that they did in the Scottish Referendum. Allow our young people the right to vote- it is their future after all.
