Get GP’s and NHS to test thyroid for couples undergoing fertility/IVF treatment

I am currently going through IVF treatment and I have recently come across some information regarding thyroid levels (TSH) needing to be a certain level during pregnancy. After much difficulty my GP agreed to send me for a blood test. My results came back in the normal range but according to my own research it wasn’t normal for pregnancy so I spoke to my IVF doctor who agreed it could do with being a bit lower. I then spoke to another GP who very reluctantly prescribed the correct medication to lower this particular level. My aim here is to raise awareness of the importance of having this test done and also treated at the early stages. Untreated, high thyroid levels could cause miscarriage and after suffering one miscarriage already I want to make sure I do whatever I can to prevent it from happening again. I also want to encourage everyone to get this test done. It appears to me that GP’s do not have the relevant information and interest in supporting couples in this matter and I think it’s appalling. Something needs to change.
