George Osborne cannot be an MP and Editor of the London Evening Standard

It was announced on 16th March 2017 that George Osborne is to become the new Editor of the London Evening Standard, and maintain his current role as MP for Tatton, Cheshire. This represents a clear conflict of interests and he must stand down from one of these roles. A serving MP cannot Edit a newspapers and remain impartial. The risk of him using his Editorial clout to unfair advantage for himself and the Conservative party represents a threat to the democratic process and the independence of the British press.
