End the demand for Ivory to save the Elephants

This petition had 3,383 supporters

Prime minister, At the current rate of slaughter the elephant will be extinct in Mozambique in 5 years time. Demand for Ivory is at an all new level in China and South East Asian countries, these countries need to do more to stop demand at their level. China has made great steps to stopping demand but it needs to be in their interest even more as time is quickly running out before elephants become history. The U.K. Government needs to do more to lobby these countries to put a stop to the ivory trade as a whole and increase the pressure on this matter. If the west and Asia can work together to stop this horrific trade then hopefully elephants won't just be something that can only be read about in books, but generations to come will be able to observe these majestic, beatiful and necessary animals. Once demand has stopped then we can focus on creating a environment where humans and elephants can live side by side. Sign the petition and share to let everyone know before it is too late and let's cull the demand.
