Ban Anti Homeless Architecture
This petition had 39 supporters
Anti Homeless Architecture is a "Design Movement" created to discourage rough sleepers from resting in a specific location. From metal studs and spikes on the floor or window ledges, to benches with arm rests in between the seats these are all implemented to stop people resting there.
The concept of defensive architecture is inhumane and the fact it is incorporated as "design" makes it even worse. Architects, businesses and councils are creating these methods to keep people away. Have you ever stood at a bus or train stop after a long day at work and just wanted to have a seat to find that the seats that were once there have been replaced by furniture designed to just lean upon? These are there to stop YOU from resting, to stop people from waiting around for too long. GO AWAY it is telling you, DON'T stay here!
Defensive Architecture is all around you and I bet you might not have even noticed it before but it is an ongoing phenomenon all around the world, which needs to be addressed.
By signing this petition you are telling the world NO, anti homeless architecture is not acceptable. Anyone in any circumstance could up sleeping on the streets and if you was in that position what would you do about having to sleep on the metal spikes.
Please help change this ongoing phenomenon and #BanAntiHomelessArchitetcure
