Why this petition matters
This is a heavily populated area and we, the undersigned, call upon Sefton Council to reject Cornerstone Telecommunications planning applications for a mast on College Road. To protect the health and safety of the local community, along with protecting the local area from the visual impacts associated with the clutter associated with the ancillary works and the overpowering visual impact of a 17.5m monopole, wrap around cabinet and ancillary development including GPS module.
The Government planning portal website states: ‘Mobile phone operators are under a statutory duty to minimise the impact of their equipment on the visual amenity.’
This is absolutely not the case in a lot of instances. Local councils should be forced to follow these guidelines and consider the environment and surrounding areas before granting planning permission for masts to be erected in residential areas. This mast will create a blight on the landscape and would be a reminder to the risks it poses causing fear, stress and anxiety for the local community. This is a material consideration and should be considered.
We are told that we live in a democracy. Are we going to allow this country to become a police state where we have no say in the environment in which we live? If we don’t make a stand then we are all at risk of a mast being installed directly beside our home.
The timescale is short and all comments and petitions need to be received by 1st October 2022.
Please sign this petition and show the Government and local councils that we have a voice and we deserve to be listened to.
