To inform the youth of today about Domestic Abuse, two of my classmates and myself have made this petition, so in the future we will be able to overcome yet another worldwide issue. On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. This number of people consists of everyone - men, women, and children included. All races and all walks of life experience domestic abuse, so it is not like this problem is exclusive to women as it is relayed in pop culture like TV shows and movies. If you were to take this number of 20 people per minute and apply it globally, what we have is a lengthy number of the worlds population who experience domestic violence, and who have been abused by a family member or loved one. This continues to be a reoccurring problem, regardless of what age(s), so the goal is to write this petition with the objective of getting signatures from the youth of today, which will hopefully have an impact on their future, as well as inform them how and why they should not continue this chain of violence. We can change the high and rising statistics of domestic abuse, by doing something as little as signing a petition. This is just the start of something big, and as a collective unit we will soon, in time be able to get over domestic violence.
