We have all heard the over used rhetoric on both sides of this debate, and honestly, it's getting old. Creating gun free zones and banning weapons along with back ground checks will not stop the criminals who wish to harm unarmed, unprotected Americans. As a society, we have an obligation to protect those who cannot protect themselves by any means necessary. This is important because banning a particular weapon will not automatically ensure safety, it only punishes those of us who will never use these weapons to commit a crime, history has proven this time and time again in Germany, Australia, China, Japan and in many countries in Africa. If we don't learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it, and it will be at the cost of American lives. Don't ban my AR 15 because you are scared of the way it looks. A Ruger bing mini 14 fires the same bullet and there are magazines for that weapon that hold 30 rounds as well, but this particular weapon isn't on the list of proposed bans. More importantly, we must lower the threat to humans life by addressing the needs of our mentally unstable citizens.
