I guess I have to start by 'qualifying': I am an enrolled member of a nationally recognized tribe of Native Americans, a genuine member of a conquered nation. This issue is important because 'redskin' is a derogatory, racist term and it is unacceptable in this day and age. A racial slur does not signify "pride", no matter what Roger Goodell and Dan Snyder say. We don't allow, as a society, racist team names that denegrate or demean African Americans, Hispanics, Asians, Muslims or Gays and Lesbians any more, why do we as a society still think it's OK to use this term? I think if enough people get behind this movement, we can get the NFL to do the right thing.
