The ratings for the Academy Awards have been declining for years and they have struggled to make the ceremony into something that makes people tune in. It’s super long, overly serious, and comes at the end of a long season of other award ceremonies. How can they stand out, maintain their status as the best, and have an entertaining evening of television? The answer is simple: The Muppets should host the Oscars. 

The Muppets are Hollywood Royalty and are beloved by young and old alike. They’ve likely worked with most of the nominees! There are lots of them so they could work the red carpet, the press room, hand out awards, and even run through the nominated movies like Billy Crystal used to do. Imagine the big argument scene in Marriage Story but with Kermit and Miss Piggy. Imagine Best Foreign Film being presented by Swedish Chef. Imagine a long speech being played off by Animal on the drums. Fozzie would absolutely slay the opening monologue. And if not, Statler and Waldorf can heckle him. 

And I’m sure that any of The Muppets would be willing to apologize for any controversial tweets they’ve tweeted in the past. 

The Muppets hosting the Oscars would make the ceremony must watch TV. Not only would the Oscars be the most prestigious award, but the ceremony would be the most entertaining. A testament to the best of the entertainment industry. And it’d be hilarious.
