Michael Chatham started this petition to The Walt Disney Company

For years, Disney has repeatedly ignored the abysmal human rights record of the Chinese government, all so that their films, television shows, and merchandise will be allowed into the Chinese market, and so they, in return, can reap the profits.

Now, Disney has taken things one step further, by filming the live-action remake of Mulan in the same region of China where the ethnic minority Uighurs are being oppressed, through concentration/"re-education" camps, family separations, and, according to some sources, even forced sterilization.

Furthermore, Disney employed security officers for the film that have taken part, firsthand, in the campaign of oppression against the Uighurs (thanking them in the credits of the film), and cast a Chinese actress in the lead role who openly supports the government dictatorship.

I am kindly asking people, both in America and abroad, to boycott Disney films, television shows, parks, merchandise, other Disney branded/owned products (including the subsidiaries of Marvel and Lucasfilm, and the Disney+ streaming service) until:

1. Disney agrees to take human rights seriously, and openly defends human rights.

2. Openly acknowledges that the Uighur people have the right to exist.

3. Stops pandering to the Chinese government.

It is a sad irony and severe hypocrisy to make and celebrate films about people who commit acts of heroism, defend the innocent, and oppose injustice; when we ourselves are not willing to do so in real life.

What would Captain America do?
