Why this petition matters

Started by Elliot Porcher

My fellow students,

A great disservice to the people has occurred. A Founder's Day theme has been chosen without the approval of the people. We have had the opportunity to vote stolen from us - this is of special consequence to those of us who only have one more Founder's Day remaining. The VSA asks us to vote on countless things - elections, impeachments, and today, November 30th, "which pokemon you are." Why have they not asked us to vote on themes submitted by the people? Does the VSA really serve the students if they deprive us of our civic duty? Why ask for our input on themes at all if, at the end of the day, it didn't matter because we didn't get to have a popular vote?

Please join me in asking the VSA to open a poll and let the people make their own decisions. I, along with a multitude of others, not only want to vote for a theme - I want to see Shapes appear on the list, just so I can watch it lose for a fourth year in a row. It is an essential part of my institutional experience, one that I can have no place else. Thank you for your time in reading and/or signing this petition.

xoxo, gossip girl
