Save the cheerleading season

The district of Newcastle county votech has made the harsh descion of forcing each of the four schools to no longer allow their cheerleaders to travel to games this basketball season. This descion did not include the cheerleaders input at all and they were not informed until the descion was already made. Apparently this decision was made to cut the financial burden of paying bus fare. What the district fails to realize is that there were other alternatives. Fundraising could have been possible, carpooling could’ve been possible, there were many options that were not considered. Students cheerlead because it’s their passion and it gives them a voice and it gives them spirit. If students cannot cheer the way they enjoy, that simply takes their voice and spirit away. Not just the cheerleaders but the majority of the votech population would like a reconsideration or a say in what happens to the season.
