Save the Carriage House
Save the Carriage House
The Commissioners of Clermont County have voted to tear down the historical Carriage House located at 177 E Main St. Batavia, OH. The reason they have for razing yet another significant building in the Historical Village of Batavia would be for an additional 4 parking spaces. There have been offers to purchase the property by local small businesses for more than the cost of the demolition. The County has refused these offers. The Carriage House is a brick building that can be dated back to 1892. It has worn many hats over it’s lifetime, but most recently used as offices for the county. The building is in pristine condition with entirely updated mechanicals and complies to the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Standards being equipped with a front entrance ramp and ground level ADA compliant bathrooms, something that is exceedingly rare for Historical Buildings. The Carriage House would make a wonderful brick and mortar for any small business looking to grow in the Village of Batavia. Please help us by signing this petition to be presented to the Commissioners and County at the next public session.
