James Philpot started this petition to The Victorian government

It should not be mandatory to wear masks in regional Victorian schools. There have been hardly any cases in regional Victoria for weeks. The Victorian Government has been illogical with their decision making which is affecting Australian children, men, women, and businesses. Children should be socializing and learning, not focusing on if they can breathe or not. Wearing masks is prohibiting full oxygen intake, which prohibits maximum learning ability. Not only is this debilitating to children's physical health, but it is also making them more reluctant to go to school and is also affecting mental health.

Mask wearing is optional for Primary level students, however, the same can not be said of those in Secondary school level. The Victorian Government has also banned singing, brass instruments, and woodwind instruments in schools. This is outright unfair for people who have jobs in this sector and is prohibiting students from being able to play their instruments. Having masks mandatory and prohibiting singing is also not allowing students to worship in schools, whether in events or assemblies. This also applies to churches in regional Victoria. Students in regional Victorian Schools are also not permitted to have sports classes in gyms. This is also unfair on students and teachers.

Only the Victorian Government has the authority to make such things possible. Masks should be optional in regional Victoria, not compulsory. Businesses and facilities should also have the power to make masks mandatory or optional. For instance, a local food business may say that in order to be served you have to wear a mask. Another business may say that it is optional to wear a mask and you do not have to wear one.
