Get Rid of Non-Recyclables and Excessive Garbage in UArts Dining Halls (Terra and Mangia)

It is 2017, my dudes, and we need to make sure we're doing our part to create a healthy living environment for everyone and everything on this planet! Even though we are a small school with a little under 2,000 students, that doesn't mean we can be lazy and can't make some sort of difference, whether that be starting to use recyclable materials, downsizing the amount of "garbage" we create, etc. The average student at The University of the Arts is paying anywhere from $2,100/year** to $5,560/year** on their dining plan. One would think we can afford to make this happen!
"The average person generates over 4 pounds of trash every day and about 1.5 tons of solid waste per year.
Americans make more than 200 million tons of garbage each year, enough to fill Busch Stadium from top to bottom twice a day.
The EPA estimates that 75% of the American waste stream is recyclable, but we only recycle about 30% of it.
We generate 21.5 million tons of food waste each year. If we composted that food, it would reduce the same amount of greenhouse gas as taking 2 million cars off the road.
Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to listen to a full album on your iPod. Recycling 100 cans could light your bedroom for two whole weeks." (DoSomething.org)

Just think about how many Styrofoam cups, plates, and bowls UArts dining facilities must go through in a week! We need this to change. Sign this petition in the hopes that our dining facilities take our wishes into consideration for a healthier and happier world.
