Kassandra Burke started this petition to Jacques Frémont (The University of Ottawa)

As students who live in the nation’s capital, we strongly believe the education system has failed us. While the secondary school system tells us lies about our country’s history and omits important information, we hope that the University of Ottawa will correct this systemic failure. Anti-oppression courses that enlighten students about Canada's historic and current role in racism against Black and Indigenous folks, should be mandatory for all University of Ottawa students, regardless of their faculty.

Speaking from experience, courses with this subject matter have shed light and opened my eyes on systemic racism in Canada and every university student deserves to learn about this.

As an educational institution situated on unceded Algonquin territory, the University of Ottawa has a duty to educate our future leaders about Canada's past and present role in systemic racism against Black and Indigenous folks. Please join us by signing this petition so we can send it to the President of the University of Ottawa. You don’t need to be a student of UOttawa, as long as you agree with what is being put forward.
