David Boren, Joe Castiglione and Bob Stoops Should Resign From The University of Oklahoma

With the release of the indefensible and disgusting Joe Mixon assault tape on 12/16/2016, it is clear that the University of Oklahoma has failed its alumni family and fans, time and time again, by showing it cares more about winning football games than showing moral integrity, providing a safe and healthy atmosphere for its students, and setting an example of what is acceptable behavior.
Seeing the recent events take place down at Baylor University, I have been appalled by so many people in positions of power showing a complete lack of regard and compassion for victims by not holding football players accountable for their actions and continuing to give them scholarships and a huge stage to help benefit their careers. But that is exactly the same type of culture that I would never expect the University of Oklahoma, a place I call home, to promote. But it is doing just that. I am embarrassed to admit this is my school, when it would tolerate such actions.
Along with the graphically violent and dispicable assault that is displayed in the just released Joe Mixon video tape, allegations have recently come to light that Sooner receiver Dede Westbrook assaulted the mother of his children in 2012 and 2013. In addition to this, OU allowed Dorial Green-Beckham on the team after he got kicked out of school at Missouri for allegly pushing a female student down four flights of stairs, two drug arrests and a felony arrest warrant for first degree burlary. The University of Oklahoma also let Frank Shannon back on the team after a Title IX investigation ended with him suspended for only a year for sexual assault. The University of Oklahoma additionally let Justin Chaisson on the team after he kidnapped his girlfriend and threatened to kill her with a screwdriver. Furthermore, OU allowed Josh Jarboe on the team after two felony gun charges were pleaded down to misdemeanors. It wasn't until a video surfaced on the Internet of him rapping about shooting people did he get dismissed. Despite all of these incidents, David Boren found that a recording of fraternity members singing a racist song was enough to expel two them from the school (which was entirely justified) but the violent acts towards women were forgiven.
The University of Oklahoma has repeatedly shown that it is incapable of making decisions that are best for the university. We believe that David Boren, Joe Castiglione and Bob Stoops should either be fired or resign from the university and the positions should be filled with leaders that understand violence against women (and men) have no place at the University of Oklahoma.
