From the very first day we stepped on campus, UNC's class of 2023 has been hailed the "Jordan Year," in reference to former UNC basketball player and current professional basketball legend Michael Jordan (whose number, in case you didn't know, during his years at Chapel Hill was 23). Since then, a lot has changed: our freshman year was cut short and our second year essentially vanished because of, well, you know (or at least I'd hope you do) and we've only thus far experienced one-half of a full basketball season at UNC, but we know how much basketball means to our school and to our community, as well as our famed former players. 

We, the UNC class of 2023, in light of our nickname and our love of this school and our basketball team, believe that it would only be fitting if Michael Jordan himself could come back to his roots, and address the "Jordan Year" during our commencement ceremony in May of 2023. By signing this petition, you are stating that you believe that his words of wisdom and inspiration would be an incredible sendoff for our class, and a perfect end to our time as undergraduates at this wonderful school. Mr. Jordan, we hope to see you then!
