In March 2020 we were incredibly grateful to receive a safety net policy along with many other universities at the time, to allow us to still succeed despite any pressures from the changing situation regarding Covid-19.

Now, we are beginning our 3rd national lockdown and yet we no longer have a safety net policy. This is currently the biggest concern amongst students. Students are now stuck at home, with declining mental health, with children needing support as schools have now closed, and students now lack financial support due to job loss... there are even students who have unfortunately lost family members and have not had the chance to grieve.  The university has acknowledged these issues and yet no real action has been taken.

Many students I have spoken to have now accepted that they will not get the grades they were achieving prior to covid. This is not ok.

We are not receiving the same standard of teaching as we were pre-covid, and yet, the expectations on students are the same? We should be able to enter the world after finishing university with pride of what we have achieved, as well as not have significantly reduced job opportunities due to not receiving the final grade we really deserve. Is this really not in the best interests of the University?  The current methods of calculating final year grades makes no difference when our final year grades are not efficiently protected, we will miss out.

Lincoln must act - we deserve an effective safety net policy.
