Recently I suffered a personal trauma, unfortunately during exam season. I asked for an extension request from my University to be told this isn’t possible, I was told to enter a concession instead. But my Universities concession policy only allows students 7 extra days to submit work and if the concession isn’t approved you have to resit the module exams and these are capped if the concession isn’t approved. Even if you had mitigating/exceptional circumstances.
I made a Tiktok video, following a trend, it’s so far gained over 700 thousand views, I then found out even more people had experienced the same at Ulaw.
Ulaw is a massive institution with 19 campuses world wide with the majority being in the U.K. they cater to undergrad and postgrad so it’s likely one student everyday from Ulaw experiences a trauma or something that completely derails a students ability to complete the exam/coursework to no fault of their own.
I have gone back and forth with my University and they said the policies will be reviewed in May but I feel they should be reviewed as a matter of urgency. I’m hoping to have an extension policy implemented with a range of 3-28 days, a better concession policy with no exam caps and a mitigating circumstance policy.
