Deny Donald Trump the privilege of serving in public office
Deny Donald Trump the privilege of serving in public office
Section 3 of the 14the amendment to The Constitution of The United States states:
"No Person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability."
Donald Trump held a rally that directly resulted in insurrection. It is clear he has given aid or comfort to the enemies of the state, and it can be argued he directly insited an insurrection while holding the office of the President of the United States. The Constitution is clear that such actions make an individual ineligible to hold future public office, and I am calling on the federal government to formally recognize this fact, or hold a vote to allow for his privilege to serve in public office in the future.
