Wasay Syed started this petition to The United States Department of Education

As we all know, the United States school system is broken. Completely broken. The tests and quizzes and grades in general cause students stress. School teaches many unneeded topics. Many kids will be doing jobs that are completely unrelated to a certain subject in school. Homework can also be a major source of stress, which is why we would be better off with it gone, along with grades. This school system was put into effect over 100 years ago. Nothing has changed at all for 100 years. For a century, nothing has changed. This system was made for factory workers. It is no wonder that the United States education system is in the 20s for the best. You want to know what the best education system is? Finland.  Mahor factors that contribute to this include; only one assessment throughout the entirety of the student's K-12 education, and that assessment is not even graded and to see how well the student understands the topic, no homework until high school, and even then only 20 minutes of homework is given, and no grades. School, as I already said, teaches many useless things. But, maybe they could teach subjects related to the job you are doing. Suicide is the third leading cause of death of people aged 10-24. Why are we not taught to deal with mental health issues? Financial literacy? This system needs to be changed. The lawmakers will not change it unless we make them aware of it. So sign this petition. Help many students across the country who are always stressed by their grades and homework, and cram their brains with useless information. I am talking about middle school through high school specifically.

Sincerely, a student.
