Peace on Climate started this petition to The United Nations and

Climate change is one of the most decissive factors in the proliferation of conflict and radicalisation, especially in the Sahel region. Desertification, droughts and devastating floods are making land, food and water scarce. This resource scarcity can increase the risk of intercommunity conflict, intensify existing regional conflict, and make young people who see no future prospects join armed groups. However, peace missions overlook environmental conditions, and until these are adressed, we won't be totally tackling the problem.

That is why Peace on Climate, a non-profit youth-driven platform is launching the campaign #TakeItToTheCop, so that international stakeholders and policymakers commit to defend climate justice as an act of advocacy for peace and deradicalisation.

The biggest international summit on climate change will be taking place in months time. We are talking of the COP 26, the United Nations Conference on Climate, where all member states and stakeholders will be gathered.

We want this COP to make the UN and all international actors ackowledge the existing link between climate change, conflict and radicalisation. Besides, we want a section of the COP26 agenda devoted to tackling conflict and violence through green policies and environmental projects, so that living conditions can improve in the Sahel region and everywhere.

WE NEED YOU TO HELP US REACH THE ONES WHO CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

WILL YOU?
