James Simmons started this petition to The UK Government (British gov)

Young carers have no rights within housing.  Those of us with siblings are expected to be able to complete school work to the best of our ability along side our caring responsibilities with no space of our own.  How is this fair? If the person we care for payed for someone to look after them, they would have their own room. Why should we be treated different for doing the same tasks? As young carers we deserve the right to our own room, we save the UK millions in care costs with the work we do for free. All we have to look forward to is being treated like free labour.  We are even expected to be able to complete our further education (post 16) study’s, look after those we care for and have a stable job, because you can only claim carers allowance if you aren’t in full time education.  However even this effects the benefits of those who are cared for, if it’s family or not. How on earth did anyone think this was fair? Young carers having the right to their own bedroom is just the start of the battle, but it will give us a huge leap forward in giving young carers more rights within the UK. Please help the fight and sign this petition to help get our voices heard.  According to Carers Trust ‘Across the UK, as many as one in five children and young people are young carers.’ please help support the thousands of unsung young people across the country who every day give their childhoods to save this country millions.
