The current version of farm bill is filled with subsidies (including crop insurance subsidies) to big ag farmers growing unhealthy foods such as corn, and tobacco farmers, while continuing to completely ignore fruit, vegetable and nut farmers. This is making unhealthy foods and tobacco cheap, and healthy foods more expensive and is leading to a health and obesity crisis in America. In addition 70 percent of the farm subsidies, including crop insurance subsidies, are going to only 10 percent of the farmers in America. These subsidies are not protecting small family farms. Americans can not afford this waste of federal funds.
I urge you to cut the direct farm subsidies, and crop insurance subsidies, in the farm bill.
