This only fair way is to have income based repayment plans. I have private student loans and am a tax paying citizens.Struggling students should be priority not corporation bale outs.

leaves graduates and parents with no options causing undo stress and anxiety. private student loans leave graduates with a loss of interest to pay them back because no one is willing to work with them and interest rates cause the payments to go through the roof. Being trapped in a box with no way out is causing the future generation to become hopeless.it is really I sad sad situation.

The US government who ultimately mandates course curriculum has allowed high schools all over the country to teach teenagers that college is worth the investment at all costs. That same US government considers student loans to be secured debt. It sounds like people are being brainwashed before reaching adulthood and then spending the rest of their lives suffering for the decision that they were pressured into making.

I often wish I would have encouraged my kids to go to a tech college. They would have graduated in about 2 years and make more money than they are now. Both of them are not even working in the area they went to school for. Neither myself or my kids will never be out from under, especially when private student loans have no desire or obligation to work out payment options. I'm stuck and will be until the day I die unless some radical and fair changes take place!!!

This is important to me because I have an MA in Professional Translation for European Languages but still can not find an adequate job 8 months after graduating. There is no such thing as the American dream, if anything the American dream is found in other countries where higher education is affordable. In the United States the underprivileged generally stay that way and the wealthy carry on being wealthy. I owe $140,000 in debt and honestly think that I wish I had never pursued a higher education nearly every day of my life after realizing the impossibility of getting a good job at the moment. There is something seriously wrong with the American educational system and it needs to be changed!
