This week, the House of Representatives will be holding one or more votes to repeal the Affordable Care Act. If this sounds familiar, let me assure you it’s not déjà vu. In the past 18 months, the House of Representatives has already held over 30 votes to repeal or defund part or all of healthcare reform.
What happened? Most of those votes were successful in the House, but none of them stood a remote chance of passing the Senate. None of these bills stood a chance of being signed into law by President Obama, either. They were purely for show – as is this one.
Votes like these are exactly why Americans are so frustrated with Congress. Instead of tackling the real, urgent need to create good jobs and keep our economic recovery moving forward, the House will waste days on still more votes that will be equally meaningless.
Let’s stop kidding around.
