The Copts are the largest religious minority in Egypt, making up about 15% or more of the Egyptian population (not the official 10% that has been on the public record since the time of Sadat). They have been outwardly unabashedly persecuted with no consequences for the assailants. It is time the American government stopped it's funding of the extremist regime of the Muslim Brotherhood!
In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., “There comes a time when people get tired of being trampled over by the iron feet of oppression.” When the sanctity of a funeral is violated, that time has come. When a place of worship is violated, or when a group of people is tactically killed for their beliefs, that time has come.
We must ask, how long will we allow ourselves to stand by in silence as an entire people are systematically persecuted? Regardless of political, ethnic, or religious affiliation we must ask, how long? We must all take responsibility for the bloodshed endured by our fellow human beings in Egypt. We unabashedly continuously finance oppressing regimes that see fit to accomplish their political goals, whatever they may be, by any means necessary. We are nodding in agreement to criminals in leadership positions, while they purposely turn a blind eye to their heinous crimes.
How long will our silence continue to loudly encourage them? People are tired of being attacked in their homes and places of worship while the world stands by watching their plight, silently shaking its head. We must ask ourselves, how long will be stand by and watch?
I, will stand silent no more!
Stop funding the oppressive regime of the Muslim Brotherhood!
