Save 3,000 Irish Travel Industry Jobs

0 have signed. Let’s get to 7,500!

There are over 3,500 people working in Irish travel agencies around Ireland. Right now over 3,000 of those jobs are at risk.

The reason is, travel agents have been prevented from trading due to the Government’s non essential travel ban.

The impact of that is previously held bookings were lost and with a continuing travel ban in place, travel agents are unlikely to see many new bookings for 2020.

It's a situation that is a unique one to other industries and businesses.  Since March travel agents have worked for zero income.  On returning post-lockdown, unlike other businesses hoping to sell their products or services, travel agents were instead processing thousands of refund requests and changing holidays for clients.

The travel industry is the most highly regulated in the country and contributes 1.4 billion to the economy.  To operate, travel agents require a government license and a bond in place to protect their clients.

Every travel agent up and down the country is a viable business with a united goal to keep staff employed and to get through this pandemic together.

We want to get back to what we do best, making your travel dreams come true.  We're professionals, we know travel and we love doing what we do.

For that reason, we need your support in lobbying the government to help save our industry and protect the livelihoods of all within the travel industry.  We need the government to realise that their one size fits all EWSS is not supporting the travel industry.  We are asking for an expansion of the pandemic payment and grants - not loans - that will support us as we rebuild our businesses.

Please support up by signing our petition.  We thank you for doing so!
