Many students cross the street between Tony Rose Memorial Sports Centre and ODSS each day on their way to school. The ODSS Student Senate has noticed a high density of pedestrian and vehicular traffic during the morning, lunch hour, and end of school.

The student senate has a proposal to promote the safety of students: the town should install a crosswalk with a function to stop traffic and convey a pedestrian’s right of way using a flashing overhead light. Students would be able to press a button to activate this flashing light.

We understand that action is sometimes taken after an accident. However, we believe strongly in being proactive. Please join us in asking the Town of Orangeville Council to consider installing a crosswalk. Together we can protect the lives of youth.
