On behalf of the autistic community and families with diversities who face daily gaslighting, dismissals, damaging opinions, lack of support and the like; I urgently request a full retraction by The Times Newspaper and journalist Damian Whitworth (@thetimes @Damwhit) and public acknowledgement that they published an article containing harmful & false information threatening to discredit & dismiss #ActuallyAutistic children, people & their families #AutismAwareness.

We find this article; https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/autism-is-vastly-overdiagnosed-its-the-parentswayout-xzwlg2wsx to be offensive, innacurate, damaging and at risk of excacerbating the problems many of us face with lack of diagnostic, educational and workplace support we already experience on a chronic scale.

We are aware of the right of freedom of speech but we feel that The Times has overstepped the mark by applauding the content of the book the journalist Damian Whitworth is plugging. We also reserve the right not to be undermined in this way in the media.
