As students, it is our responsibility to show our community's solidarity with the students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. We must show support for the brave and courageous actions taken by the students in Parkland after their tight-knit community, very similar to our own, was rattled by the shooting that took the lives of 17 helpless victims. We support the call to action by the survivors and would like to help. On March 14th, we plan to walk out the front doors of the school, and to stand outside for 17 minutes, one minute for each victim. As we participate in this protest for complacency on school safety, we hope that our protest, along with the many others nationwide, will empower the Parkland survivors mission to change the gun laws in our country. Also, please wear orange during the protest as it is the color designated by the Parkland students as the movement's color. Hopefully, we will be lucky enough to get 100 people to sign this petition. Remember Hopewell, let's embrace this moment that likely only comes once in a generation!
