Revoke the veterinary license of Kristen Lindsey

This petition had 113,308 supporters

When Veterinarian Kristen Lindsey killed a cat, it wasn’t in the clinic where she worked or out of mercy. She did it as sport and then bragged about it on Facebook.

When Kristen Lindsey saw a cat on her property she did not act as we would expect a veterinarian to. She did not try to find out who the cat belonged to or take it to a shelter. Instead, Kristen Lindsey shot the animal in the head with a bow and arrow, posed with the body in a picture, posted it on Facebook, and wrote: “My first bow kill lol. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through its head. Vet of the year award…gladly accepted!"

Media reports say the cat was likely not feral, but a tabby named Tiger that belonged to a neighbor.

We trust our veterinarians to care and look out for the welfare of the pets in our community. This is not just an expectation, it is a part of the oath every veterinarian takes. Their oath in part states they will “use [their] scientific knowledge and skills for the benefit of society through the protection of animal health and welfare, the prevention and relief of animal suffering.”

Kristen Lindsey did not live up to her oath and should face the consequences. We are asking the Texas State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners to revoke her license.

Outrage over the incident has spread beyond the Texas town where Kristen Lindsey practiced. The American Veterinary Medical Association issued a statement calling the Facebook post “shocking” and “appalling”. They understand veterinarians are held to a higher standard. Not only did she not meet that standard, she showed horrible judgement and a lack of empathy with her gruesome and insensitive Facebook post.

Kristen Lindsey has already lost her job and the Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners has opened an investigation. We believe the actions of Kristen Lindsey show a disregard for her oath and should disqualify her from being able to practice veterinary medicine.

Please sign our petition asking for the Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners to revoke her license.
