Once again, Family Dollar wants to put a store in historic and bucolic El Prado, NM, near the intersection of Hwy. 64 and Millicent Rogers Road.  All around the building site are private residences, plowed and seeded fields, grazing cows, Taos Land Trust property, and Taos Pueblo land.  One of the houses is the historic home of Frieda Lawrence, wife of D.H. Lawrence, a famous 20th century British writer.

The store, which will be seen on all four sides (three of which will have blank walls with one small door for deliveries), will destroy the peace and tranquillity of its neighbors with its 24/7 security lighting and increase in traffic (400-450 cars a day plus 18-wheelers).  They will see their property values plummet.

A Family Dollar, known for its ugly buildings and garish signage, simply will not fit in with these surroundings.
