People without cars need access to the hospital and as we are all being persuaded to use cars less it seems obvious to provide the necessary public transport.

We don’t currently have a bus serving Harlow Hospital . Our elderly residents of Waltham Abbey are finding the extra walk from the town to the hospital impossible . We need to be looking after our elderly not making life harder for them .

The current service limits access to health care. Patients who are unable to drive and do not qualify for hospital transport currently rely on cabs. For those who do not qualify for reimbursement of these cab fares, the cost of these cabs must be borne by the individual and in some cases where reimbursement is available, the patient is needs to wait several weeks for payments to be processed. This can result in the patient going into debit in order to attend appointments.
The combination of all these factors has contributed to DNA rates at PAH of 6.44% during (four week period across May and June 18). This has significant impact on health outcomes and has a financial for PAH.
