Emmanuel college has made many changes to help our safety during Covid-19, but one change that was made has taken a toll on the Emmanuel community as a whole. The cafeteria this year is a disappointment. Last year the cafeteria had many choices, and great food in general. Sometimes it was difficult to find a chair to sit in because almost everyone enjoyed eating there. This year there are not many options for food. There is only one option at the hot section where as last year we were generally given two choices. The sandwiches are being left out too long and are too stale to eat. We believe it is unfair that students pay a fee even though we are no longer eating the cafeteria food. The student body would like to make suggestions that might solve this problem. 1.) Bring back the pizza bar to increase our options in the cafe. 2.) Send out a survey of foods within the schools budget so that we have a say in what we eat. 3.) If the changes are not possible we would like to petition a refund for our cafe fees. A commuter meal plan is roughly $800. If we live within the dorms we should be given the choice of paying this fee or saving the money for groceries. The fee should not be attached to the dorm. We should not pay money for food we are not eating.We are tired of skipping meals and eating out of a microwave. This change could also increase school revenue because commuters might begin to eat in the cafe again if changes are made. This change would benefit the entire Emmanuel college community.
