For kids in middle school, Dreambox is nothing but repetitive review for things that we have already learned plenty about, from a REAL PERSON. Dreambox has and incredibly slow way of teaching topic, often making you begin from nothing when you make a mistake, or making you advance to a different topic before you can correct your original mistake.

Lexia involves a lot of time (about 2 hour per week) and some students would rather spend their time outside, or learn something new, than sit at a computer for another hour or two.

These apps also squash freedom to learn your own strategies. The app's approach is very different from what we have learned in class, and it does not give very much room for looking at problems with a different strategy, that you may prefer to use.

The very last complaint I have is both are very repetitive. Dreambox and Lexia involve using the old-school strategy of repetition. I enjoy going to CFI because it allows us to learn in a way besides constantly taking in the same information over and over, but these apps do not represent that vision of our school.

With this in mind, we ask that you reconsider the amount of time spent on these apps to better enhance student creative freedom.
