BAYSHORE HIGH SCHOOL DRESS CODE

It is evident that the new dress code is a drastic change. Individuality is vital in our society, regardless of whether a place is an educational environment or not. I hope to change the dress code to something that is more inviting of individuals styles (ripped jeans, tank tops, etc.) We are not yet in a career, this is the blissful time in life to wear what you want and discover what style you prefer, what type of person you want to be, and where you belong in life. Although rules are important for a functioning society, they need to be within reason. I propose the following dress code:

Tops that reach your waistband (tank tops, shirts, blouses, spaghetti straps, long sleeves, etc.) and are not strapless should be allowed to be worn as long as undergarments are not visible and they are not see through. If see through, an undershirt/camisole needs to be worn.

Pants/Leggings/Slacks/Jeans are allowed (with rips as long as they begin no higher than mid thigh) and do not reveal undergarments. Such bottoms must fit appropriately and not be see through, or tight enough to reveal personal body parts. Pants on either gender may not sag.

Dresses/Skirts/Shorts that do not reveal upper thigh (when sitting, walking, or standing) are appropriate as they do not reveal any undergarments, show butt or front, are not tight enough to see personal body parts, are backless (for dresses) , or see through.

All clothing must not convey gang relation, sexual acts, inappropriate symbols, pictures, or words, nudity, or any inappropriate situations.

Jewlery (face piercings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, etc are permitted as long as they do not pose a possible threat to yourself or others.) Sunglasses are not permitted.

Hats, beanies, hoodies or other head garments not belonging to a religious affiliation may not be worn unless outside temperature reaches under sixty degrees or spirit days allow it.

Students are allowed to dress as the gender they identify with.

The above dress code is just an idea. Perhaps having the ability to be tweeked. Thank you for the support. ❤
