Dress codes only target women, no matter how you try to word it. Canyon Hills has a biased dress code that shames women and sexualizes their bodies. Dress codes are an old fashioned and misogynistic way of thinking that must be abolished immediately. The standards in clothing that are promoted by the dress code cater towards men and their bodies, which certifies that the dress code will only apply to those who don't meet the standards that society sets for our bodies. In order to fix this problem, we must tackle the broader issue at hand: the fact that men and their bodies are the standard that sets the rules for everybody. Once we accept and start to fight against the active sexism in our society, we can create a more non-discriminatory dress code for all schools. This is more than seeing a bra strap or thighs; this is the outdated standard that we cannot tolerate anymore.
