as a student of elizabethtown area high school and someone whos generation has taken a stand for world problems over the past 2 years, i know that the recent actions of the student section instagram’s owners are not acceptable. in a post made on sunday february 27th, they said “THE THEME WILL BE BLUE AND YELLOW �� CUZ WE ARE GOING TO WAR POP OUT!!!!!”. wether this was meant to be taken as “our team is gonna fight hard” kind of ‘war’ or “joking” about the war going on in Ukraine, this is not okay. 

joking about something so serious like this is never ok. no matter what. you are not (yet) the peoples whos motherland is being torn to pieces and has been torn for years. people are dying in ukraine everyday for no reason and youre here joking about people DYING. youre joking about a city getting blown up. youre joking about children & adults scared for their lives everyday. going to sleep terrified and waking up terrified. the action they took should not represent our school. sadly it sums up what living in etown is like, but its not what should represent our school. our school is amazingly talented and everyday we are presented with so many opportunities to learn & grow as people. people should know us for making jokes about a war. is this what we want to be known as etown?
