Take a look at a danger spot in the SMS neighborhood area and help us to raise awareness about the walker/biker/car issue. The Burnhaven development/ Alderwood Dr. has two roads entering Willowbrook. The upper end would be across the entrance to the proposed Daley subdivision (https://www.strathamnh.gov/sites/strathamnh/files/uploads/2017-06-21_daley_subdivision_web.pdf The bottom one is a neighborhood danger spot - with poor visibility of oncoming traffic, Willowbrook curves onto a narrow bridge with guard rails on both sides. It is just wide enough for two cars passing; it is very dangerous for pedestrians.
This exact spot is also the reason that worries Burnhaven families when considering letting their children ride their bikes to SMS or to visit friends in the afternoon. Burnhaven is a densely build development with a large number of children attending SMS every year. Encouraging a healthy life style will mean to provide a safe route to school for this community as well as to Stratham Hill Park.
A neighborhood initiative would like to see a seasonal bike/walk path added to the subdivision to improve walk/bikeability for students and other residents. The possible seasonal bike path would cut directly from the new subdivision off road onto Lovell to by pass the danger spot in Willowbrook Ave. Let's petition the planning board for this rather easy change!
