Keep Guernseys East Coast in Guernseys Hands

Keep Guernseys East Coast in Guernseys Hands
Members of The Guernsey Party are encouraging other deputies to get behind proposals by The Policy and Resources Committee to set up an arms length agency to develop the islands East Coast (Bailiwick News).
We the people of Guernsey, want our deputies to know that we are not in favour of an agency operating separately from Government running development and regeneration of our East Coast.
We are not in favour of a private board who will likely want significant returns on their investment.
We would like to assure The States of Guernsey that we are not against regeneration of the area, we are however not welcoming private investment in this site.
We would like to ask The States of Guernsey the following questions:
1. What assurances can the deputies give us that they will have a full, independent, environmental impact assessment carried out on any proposal before entering into any partnership with investors.
2. What assurances can the deputies give us that the environment will not be significantly impacted by these changes.
3. What assurances can the deputies give us that this real estate is not going to be used for high end housing.
4. What assurances can the deputies give us that our harbours and marinas will not become unaffordable to the majority of our population.
5. What assurances can the deputies give us that the Guernsey population would have continuing free access to the areas in question.
6. Why would seed money of £1m of tax payers money be needed to set up the agency.
7. Why does the policy paper not show a defined area of land to be built on?
If you are in agreement with these points and concerned for the East Coast, please email your deputies and sign this petition.
