Voters irate after names struck off the list
Voting right is our fundamental right. Voting for the second phase of municipal election in Uttar Pradesh was marked by a large number of names missing from the voter lists across the State.
In many cities, many well-known persons as well as common voters could not find their names on the voter list.
Media reports that a lot of voters names are missing from the voting list of today’s election. This type of digital India cannot take us forward.
The State election commission is yet to issue a statement.
I wants the Election Commission to allow the citizens who have voters’ ID card to exercise their vote if their names are missing.
Voting for UP Municipal Corporation elections yesterday, i.e. 26th November 2017, ended leaving lots of UPians very disgruntled and unhappy.
Confusion in voter lists, and one member of a family finding his name ‘missing’ is normal, it is expected, and generally overlooked. But this time the confusion was mass scale. Unprecedented. At a rough estimate around 30% hopeful voters disappointed and very angry. I request to Election Commission to resolve this problem as soon as possible and give the chance to every adult who has completed his age of 18 years in upcoming election and those who have their voter's ID card should allow to cast their vote.
