There have been many cases of women losing their lives in the hands of their partners after reporting domestic violence to the police. In most cases the police either ignore the victims concern or take too long to take action. The recent case in Johannesburg where a woman was shot dead by the husband in front of their son is a case in point. Police need to ensure that they investigate thoroughly any incidences reported of abuse.
