To help, in some small way, the disastrous collapse of fish stocks I have witnessed in the Spey over the past 20 years. Not so much for my benefit (although I love coming to Scotland twice a year to try and catch one) but for the benefit of all the tens of thousands of people that depend on the influx of keen salmon fishermen to support their livelihoods. Ultimately many salmon fishermen can afford to travel further afield to satiate their desire to hook a salmon...diverting their fishing pounds to the pockets of others but ask any fishermen where they would most like to fish and it is always Scotland. We will look back at this situation and say how appallingly it was managed, and how such an incredible resource was squandered. Is it already too late, I hope it isn't but I fear the worse.

I am a fly fisherman. I have a beat on the Dee. The salmon numbers are deplorable. Salmon fishing is potentially a big tourist attraction in Scotland if we can increase the numbers of fish in all the rivers.

Everything is pointing to salmon declining in the Scottish Rivers, so we must help by stopping the netters who have only one thing in mind,,-------MONEY. Please do not let the netters back on the waters.

Something needs to be done now to halt the decline in Salmon numbers before it's too late.
